Rockerilla (IT)

In Danish, *Stovfigur* means “dust figure”—an image that captures the essence of the music on the latest CD from the 12k label (the self-titled *Stovfigur*) better than a thousand words. It marks something of a return to roots for Taylor Deupree’s label, which in recent years had accustomed us to far more pastoral sounds. Instead, the arrangements crafted by the Danish producer evoke the dark ambient-dub micro-symphonies of Gas: self-looping grooves that seem to come alive within the walls of abandoned post-industrial spaces. Shards of light help dispel knots of anxiety, opening doors onto seemingly bottomless abysses. A record to play on endless repeat all night long. NOT TO BE MISSED.
