How time flies (Pt. I): It’s almost 25 years since Uwe Zahn abstracted shoegaze with his Arovane project and invented a full, texture-rich dark electronica from analogue synthesizer sounds. The conceptual and virtual collaboration is now taking place with 12k label maker Taylor Deupree, who has been in business for at least as long and is also a sound nerd. One that takes the sounds of Nonlinear Labs’ C15 synthesizer, which they both own, as the starting point for the fine-dry drones by Skal_Ghost (12K, November 4), which are naturally overflowing with texture and the smallest sound events.
