Japanese sound artist Sawako Kato has always been good for surprises, but an eight-year break from releasing music is one of the more unpleasant ones. As compensation, »Stella Epoca« offers 14 pieces that combine to form an incomparably rich overall picture, not only thanks to the collaboration of various musical companions. The music sometimes seems to follow its own dynamics or to be caught in loops, sometimes free-form and then again strict in form. Playful ambient, multi-layered drone, electronic minimal music, synthesised choir music, minimalist folk and weird pop: »Stella Epoca« offers all this and much more.
