Ethereal (FR)
Still as passionate about their country, Australians Cameron Webb and Matt Rösner continue their form of documentation of the island-state, with the testimony of a one-week residency at the Bundanon Art Museum, located 200 kilometers south of Sydney. Donated to the Australian people by the painter Arthur Boyd, the property that hosts this museum is located on the banks of the river, in a space that invites us to take nature into account. Without forcing their basic inclination too much, the two musicians were thus in perfect condition to write about forty minutes, captured on this Deep Valley, a new variation of intertwined guitars.
On these ten tracks, the six-strings can then trace beautiful lines, supported by rustling sounds from the sound of the river, the wind in the tree leaves, the rain on the roof or other natural elements captured by the two musicians (Fallen Trees On The Far Shore, Hidden Paths, Animal Tracks, Dawn From River Water). In order to further guide the listener, Seaworthy and Matt Rösner also opt for very descriptive and evocative track titles, inviting, just by reading, to a first journey: “Beyond, Winter Sun” or “River Reflections,” in addition to those already mentioned.
The result is an extremely pleasant music, delectable even by this combination of silky lines and light background noises, although the two musicians do not possibly put themselves in enough danger on this album which comes very quickly after its predecessor (less than three years, whereas it had taken them eleven to follow up their first joint effort).
