Review of Untitled [12k1008]

XLR8R (US)

Taylor Deupree is quickly building 12k into one of north america’s most respected, innovative experimental labels. All the elements are there – stunning design, covetably limited pressings, and a stellar roster of minimalist sound-smiths. an excellent encapsulation of the label’s vision, 12k1008 ranges from the hushed glitchwork of Richard Chartier to *0’s Noto-like repetitions to the sublime ambiance of Shuttle358. allied artists Goem and Komet (Frank Bretschneider) weigh in with the clickness while Tetsu Inoue (with Deupree) and Miki Yui test the limits of listenability itself. – philip sherburne.
