I have decided to conclude my day the same way I started it: amidst beauty. Stephan Mathieu composed
A Static Place by delicately transforming some of the first 78 rpms of early classical music on period instruments, played back on a dusty grammophone. Out of these sources he has drawn quiet antiquated sounds, with which he has created shimmering soundscapes. One of his best records yet, and a splendid album of experimental ambient electronica.
