Yeah I just wanted to know if it's pure computer music. Sound sources, virtual production, etc. . Just like was it generated and composed in a computer and rendered/recorded in a computer. Was it an all digital affair? It sounds really synthetic to me. This kind of stuff really interests me now, so I have been getting into a lot of the old 12k stuff and if the Optimal.LP is pure computer music then I'm really excited to buy and own it.

Yes, the album was written almost entirely on an emu morpheus sound module with sequencing in cakewalk pro and an audio program called cooledit which has become an adobe app. i bought the emu back in the day i was a big william orbit fan in high school and i got to talk to him once and he was all proteus'd out. i used the very first version of native instruments "generator" (predecessor to reaktor) on the track optimal. the emu sound modules are sample-based synths which means they are samplers with built in samples (cannot sample your own) from synthesizers that you can modify their ADSR envelopes/fx/pitch/lfo/sample range to. i later stepped up to the e5k to make my own samples and used it on a track i released under "
dj part (instinct records)" and some other pretty good d&b tracks that were never released. for albums that followed i re-wrote the emu morpheus inside reaktor by sampling all the internal samples and panels/interfaces and then sold the hardware and introduced new software i wrote. the only time i worked with a synth was on frame which was entirely done on a waldorf microwave xt. i never got good results out of it and sold it, but i compsed the track frame in one sitting and a couple others so i guess it was worth it.
there will be another s358 album some day don't worry. it wont live up to the expectations but life is a process and you just move forward through it. life has been crazy the last 5 years or so. thanks for the kind words from everyone. maybe i can have taylor post some of my ancillary material for fun.ok gotta run
