Left channel is out on my AKG's and I need some recommendations for a new set? Been a long while since I've purchased headphones...

i'm REALLY happy with my sennheiser HD580s. they're very comfortable and very clear and balanced.. never felt reason to upgrade them.

i've also heard good things about the beyerdynamic 770s.. being really flat and neutral.

Thanks for chimming in, Mr. Taylor. I will search the interweb...

ah topical.  I'm really tired of my sony mdr-7506's...ear fatigue happens really quickly, and the response is really dead (as opposed to flat).  something I'm totally in the market for but am crushing for the $$$.

I rock the classic AKG K240s and love em! Are those what you had Koda? I've never had any problems so far...

Nope, the gold K141's. 10 plus yrs of use and this is my first problem with them.

Both of these are about a dollar more than I'd like to pay. Look way nice though. Thanks for the input TD.

I love my bose QC-2 noise canceling headphones (over the ear model).  admittedly it took a while to get used to the sensation created by the noise canceling... but I am much happier in life now that I can make music and utilize urban necessities such as air conditioning at the same time!

I've been on the AKG's 271 MK II for two weeks now and feel happy with them. selective, clear, airy, natural and very comfortable. they weigh only 240g so even wearing them for a few hours doesn't bother your head. takes some time to get use to their sound flatness but now I finally got to hear all the subtle details I missed before. listening to bad quality mp3 on those is a real torture (despite the fact that it's a torture anyway...) flac preferred.

I can also confirm Taylor's remark about the beyerdynamic's. had a chance to try out a few models at my friend's music store. all of them proved to sound great. the 770s highly recommend. flat, nothing's distorted, boosted or limited. great for production. very nice.

I really enjoy my Ultrasone headphones. The company is a little less known than other, but due to a different positioning of the speaker within the shell, their stereo-imagine is way more speaker like. I also dig their frequency response.

Curiousity arising...what model do you own?

i have the closed Proline 750. And even for a closed model the imaging and the frequency response is quite pleasant. i would defintively try one before considering buying one, hence the price and i've met some people, who were a little disappointed with those headphones.

Thank you for the lowdown, NQ. Although, very comfortable with my AKG's (which I plan to have repaired), I'm excited to try something new to gain a different perspective.
