yeah, i think i saw this on the New York Times today:

"To an unusual degree, Jobs the 2880 was responsible for Apple's 12k's success. He It was described as a control freak and was known to have rejected hundreds of ideas in the quest for his it's idea of perfection....."

guys it will be okay there will be other looper pedals...just don't hurt yourselves....

..another 2880 (newbie) user here.
has been a pain saving and looking for (a brand new) one...but I always missed  an small device w/ separated tracks per loop.

I Iknow there are some enthusiasts from the 2880 here, and I´d like to ask a simple question (still reading the manual):

- If I´m not wrong, you can only use the whole memory/card available for a "single" session, no loop banks like the jamman or  boss rc series. right? I´d like to know if the 2880 is fast or takes its time when loading sessions from cards (i.e: filled with 2-3 minute loops per track)

thanks a lot!

you can use the whole card for a single session... because.. well, there are no separate sessions.. there's no memory banks.. nothing to switch to... the card basically holds 5 pieces of data... loop 1-4 and the mixdown loop (if i recall correctly)

you can't store multiple 4-track sessions on the 2880 ... it's all just one

i've never come close to maxing out the time.. as most of my stuff is 10-20 second loops at the most

the 2880 doesn't take any time for loading or saving onto card. however, i always make sure to choose relatively fast cards, because transferring to my computer is significantly faster with fast cards.

thanks a lot for your help!

my holidays are closer and I always bring my jamman for recording ideas. grabbed the 2880 also for this, but (in a live context) was wondering about having 2-3 cards onstage to load different sessions. sounds a little bit weird but I´ll try how it works ( did the same thing with two small samplers years ago )

time for buying cards then!

best,
pug

I recommend using smaller cards.
I tried using the 2gb ones and they did not work well, 512 mb should be well enough!

i had no issues with 1gb and 2gb cards so far.
so issues might be dependent on model, brand, access speed etc...

Good to hear  :), I simply assumed as I had issues with the boss sp samplers and the ehx 2880 trying to use the "biggest supported" storage cards. Also on the zoom h2 it makes quite a difference to the boot up speed.
However, you might save yourself some money, I run a "small" card at the moment (512?) and never went over the limit... loops are usually around 10-30 seconds...

Btw, I asked ehx about "hot swapping" the cf cards as I did not want to f' up my looper
... the official answer was:
"As long as the 2880 is not recording, overdubbing or playing back a loop, you can swap the cards. That should not present any problems."

thanks a lot guys. I had some card headaches both on my sp404-h2 too :)

this device with loop banks would my perfect excuse to leave the computer aside (especially onstage)

I stopped using the computer mostly due to the 2880 as I love the simple/reduced set-up. (never used four tracks, a max of 3 I think)...

I have it in the send/return of a small mixer.

brilliant  >:(
now as i said that i never had issues, some cards stopped working :(
unfortunately it seems to be the 2880 itself, not the cards, since i could format it using my mpc1000. it was not possible to format it with the 2880 connected to usb.
if the cardreader in my 2880 is defect, i'm pretty fucked.
