(unrelated to the last few discussions)

i just picked up a canon T2i yesterday and i just wanted to say that if anyone has been thinking about getting an HD enabled DSLR,  you should totally check out the T2i.  it is priced amazingly well and has more or less the same sensor and capabilities of the canon 7D (which is TWICE the price).

maybe i'll have to make a video for my album?  hmmmm.

The T2i looks nice Marc, congrats! I almost wish I had waited for that instead of getting my Lumix GH1 (but honestly I love the small size of the GH1, especially when you stick a plastic Diana lens on it). Share some video footage!
Speaking of that, maybe we should start a video thread?

in less-fancy-camera news.  in about May I got myself a Canon S90 (b/c I rly don't need a very fancy camera).  Though about the G11 but my Sony PCM-D50 is big enough, and the G11 & S90 are rather similar.  So I've been happily taking photos again.  Here's a set of highlights, and some selects:

billygomberg | canon S90 is a great small, for street etc camera. to be precise, each camera is great if you know what you doing. yes, i know many expensive cameras are so good such as leica m9. but.. when you have what you have, you can still have fun. not a question of what kind of camera you have. many people have so expensive cameras but result is still crap, on the other hand, i found this guy with homemade camera and he is a realy an artist.

his camera miroslav tichy

p.s.

it would be the best if you used manual settings on that camera.

well that's exactly why i got the s90.  it's a great size, great lens and chipset, and I love being able to dig into manual settings, and be able to assign setting to realtime controls.  I'm just not "into" photography enough to justify spending out on a "big fancy" camera, and I definitely love what the i've been able to do with the S90.

Those are some gorgeous shots Billy. I agree with you guys, the cost of the camera doesn't really matter at all. Some of my favorite shots I took on a crappy little usb stick camera that cost $90:

Guy - these are fabulous: so delicate and so raw

Billy - poor Tony - did he ever find somewhere to sleep, I wonder?

That mosquito is making me itchy. Looks like its abdomen is all swollen with blood, gross. Nice picture though!
