Travel guitars

Is anyone using any sort of travel guitar? I was looking at this thing:

It doesn't look as dorky as the Steinberg guitars of yesteryear. I just wonder what it sounds like.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Christopher Willits uses this one or a similar model, perhaps you can ask him impressions...

I play more acoustic guitar personally, a friend has a Taylor lighter bodied / smaller model made especially for travel, and meanwhile you can find a bunch of those by other makers, I was really taken aback by how little compromise there is in the sound with this one.

thanks! Long ago, I had a little Martin Backpacker. I could never get into it. I've heard the Baby Taylor gtrs are more substantial

These look scary. My friend Takeshi Nishimoto also has one of these guitars you can disassemble but I could never bring myself to play one of these. I guess I am super conservative and snobby when it comes to guitars. I do not care much about amps/effects, etc. but ... damn these all look so unbelievable ugly. Sorry, I am aware that I am not adding anything constructive to this thread but I am just really upset about this. ;) :(

In a nutshell, that's me too. Except I care about amps/effects, etc.

I too have wondered how these backpack guitars perform and hold up when it comes to intonation and staying in tune.
Guitars are like woman, I like to look at them as much as I like to touch them  ;)
