Recommend me a reverb unit
« on: January 25, 2010, 04:44:59 am »
Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade the reverb unit i use and would like to hear any recommendations you guys have.

I'm currently using an Alesis Nanoverb, which is *ok*, but i think there will be a better unit out there.

It can be either a pedal or rack unit, though as my Nanoverb sits on top of my Gibson Echoplex anything with forward facing controls would be preferred for easier adjustments.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

what's your budget?

TC Electronic makes fantastic reverbs.. their lower-end ones are still really nice...

you can also get a used Lexicon PCM for not too much.

something like that is pretty nice for the money.... and, man, it'll blow away the nanoverb.. and plus give you lots of other effect options.

sorry if this is late, but this turned me in the direction of TC Electronics (I only know their distortion pedals - bloody lovely), but I was looking for a unit to wire up with little noiseboxes, and looking for some nice delay or reverb pedal. taylor's lead has got me thinking about the TC Electronic's Hall of Fame reverb (http://www.tcelectronic.com/hall-of-fame.asp) - anyone tried one? had been considering a EHX Holy Grail, but slightly unsure now the pedal's changed shape from the original (has it changed inside??)

thanks for any steers

I cut my teeth on the Nanoverb too. I bought one because I saw SOTL play and they were using it. Good enough for them, good enough for me. But that was in 1999/2000. Alesis also make The Midiverb for $99.00. It's a full rack mount unit. Wonderful reverbs and delays and a bunch of other cool presets - and of course, plenty of empty presets for your own programming.

I have the midiverb one, but it's 16 bit, kind of an old thing, I barely use it.

i cannot recommend this - since it's still not available yet. but it might be worth waiting for it:
the eventide space pedal.
the demos on eventides website are crap but i'm confident that this pedal will be as good as it's brothers from the series.

inadvertently, I drifted off topic, and went with the TC Electronics Flashback for now, and the reverb will come later... the looper function sold it to me. I'll go find another thread  ;D
