i guess i'll give a little input myself.
i like that you speak of disconnection from what is created, it's a very similar thing here i guess, i live for the lightbulb moments, where in the midst of trials and errors you stumble upon something that is totally new to you and unexpected. that's obviously pretty arbitrary and whether it will make other people's bulbs light up is up to chance in a sense. but in that moment where this thing hits you, that doesn't matter one bit, there's a complete identification with the work. Not so much in a personal / merit way, but in a sense of being there as a part of a creation process, not one bit distracted from it.
that's something i have a hard time putting into words, with a second language too, but this is definitely my drug of choice.
other parts of the process are interesting, sure, but i guess maybe i'm a junkie for that rush, because none seem to come close in terms of pure enjoyment.
