Waldorf Blofeld

hey guys, i'm looking at getting a new hardware synth, and have been researching the blofeld (either the module or keyboard, though the keyboard version looks good with sampling capabilities).

there aren't any stores nearby to actually check it out, so it's been internet research so far.  but for the price it seems really good.  and i've read it being compared to the nord lead and access virus.

anyone have any experience/advice?  thanks.

I think this is a very attractive synth, especially for the price.  I haven't used one either, but going off Waldorf's rep - and spotting the desktop module for like $300 on eBay, I'd say it's worth a shot, especially if you are aiming for a new synth.

thanks billy.  i'm thinking the module might be the way to go, and i can upgrade it to include the sampler option seperately.

the only negative i can think of is that being a virtual analog is might be a bit samey, or there might be a bit less special about it.... that being said.. the price and size are attractive..

"sameyness" would be really subjective...I don't know how this sounds in person, how good the converters are etc.

at the same price point you can go for the DSI Morpho if yr cool w monophonic.

just got one of these on a trade... playing with it for the first time now.  sounds pretty good, but of course the presets are atrocious. sounds not unlike a virus TI.. hoping to be able to get some more lo-fi Microwave type of sounds on it (though, i have a Microwave for just that purpose)...

so far made some nice super smooth sine pads and such.

i think i'm going to get the sample memory upgrade for mine... that could potentially make it a really good live performance device... what with its size and all... and a bunch of new sonic power.

yeah same here, taylor.  i've been checking blofeld forums and everyone agrees the sample option is worth the upgrade price, especially to make use of the blofeld's filters.

funny, after these posts i read some comments about the spectre editor being a bit buggy.  did your samples load ok and it's the actual playing them that's problematic?

not sure... they seem to be selectable when i scroll to them in the oscillator waveform list... but when i select them (say in an INIT patch) and play, it's just silent...

hey taylor, just wondering how you got on with using your own samples as oscillator sources.  worth the SL upgrade?
