Looking for a good time stretching program...
« on: February 02, 2011, 03:40:01 pm »
Anyone know of a good Mac time stretching program? Freeware would be great as well...

I'd like to find one with extreme settings or freeze settings?...

Many thanks in advance...

maybe you could download GRM tools. There is a freeze program in it, I suppose. It's a VST. Look if it's free or not, I'm not sure but you can do extreme stuff. If you use audiomulch, there are some freezing presets in it as well. You just need to try the bassline input and experiment a bit with it.
Otherwise I could warmly recommend GRM.

And there's something like that: http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/
It stretches up to 50 times.

You can try paulstretch.

for OS X : http://music.cornwarning.com/2010/04/06/paulstretch-new-build-for-the-new-decade/

I don't really like the freeze effect of GRM tools (it's the only effect of GRM that i don't like) but if you have M4L or MAX, Monolake has a really, really nice granular audio freezer effect in his page

btw, paulstretch is free!

Hi guys! Many thanks for the replies... I've tried Paulstretch but I keep getting unbelievable static? Like I'm overdriving it or its clipping?!? I'll try it again and see...Again many thanks!

Try lowering the output volume. I had a similar problem with loud source files - the output waveforms had lots of clipping, and this solved it.

I would really like someday to see paulstretch as a VST application.

if you are on os x:
http://www.michaelnorris.info/soundmagicspectral/

try the dronemaker
hint1: higher fft size = more love
(second hint from the old school: just bounce the output)

oh, two more things...  the less I care about "realtime integration" in my workflow the more fun I find in
soundhack http://soundhack.com/SndHckDoc/http://www.akirarabelais.com/v/software/software.html

(as I am not really a hardcore apple guy these two make it worth having os x)

(and if you are using appledrone and macks for lies there is also some useful freeze/spectral delay stuff...)

Thanx RENÉ i didn't really know about Argeïphontes Lyre and it has really weird interface!

I haven't find the time yet to play around more with the soundhack applications but i really like all michael norris plug ins.

I also found these two  http://www.timefreezer.net/  the right one seems great. The only problem is that they are not free.

The only problem is that they are not free.

...and why is that a problem? do you work for free?
if no, why should anybody else?

i really don't get this attitude of why things should be free (software, music... whatever).
