anne & I went into manhattan last night to catch haneke's the white ribbon @ film forum but it was SOLD OUT (way to go nyc arty/depressing film crowd).  so we ended up strolling all the way over to the sunshine theaters (pretty much crosstown along houston st) and saw imaginarium of dr parnassus instead.  really fun & beautiful - so much less depressing and mind-breaking than a haneke movie.  tom waits plays the devil.

Really excited to see 'The White Ribbon,' but I have to wait another week yet.  Alas, Minneapolis is not New York.  It's gotten good -- but not great -- reviews and the feel of the previews make it seem quite different than Haneke's other films.  Maybe just because it takes place almost one hundred years ago.  Who knows.

Just watched 'The Headless Woman.'  Subtle, moving, and quite puzzling.  Reminded me a bit of 'Cache,' actually, which is by far my favorite Haneke film.

"dogtooth" from greek director yorgos lanthimos

...really disturbing, harsh, even "funny" escenes on it .
liked that outdoor-swimming pool super8-like scenes.

haneke/von trier fans will enjoy it for sure.

Yep loved imaginarium - extraordinary how they worked around Ledger's death, though perhaps few movies lend themselves in this way to losing the star partway through.  Also really enjoying Tom Waits's film career - saw the middling Book of Eli a while ago and Tom is so very, well, Tom.

It looks amazing! Has the same kind of charm as Bagpuss crossed with something like Pan's Labyrinth. Don't know much about it, and I'm not sure where it's released. I do know it's by Amanita Design who did a great Flash game called Samorost.

I think that's probably the next episode, we're waiting for disc 2 to arrive. Yeah, we might have to get HBO back for season 8. He takes forever to come up with new shows, but it's always been well worth the wait so far.

The wife and I are doing the same. LOVE Curb! LD is a gut buster.

Also, just started the 5th season of The Wire.

People from my age haven brought up with two things: Peanutbutter and The A-Team.
So last week I watched it, thought it was good fun :-)
