took the rare trip to MOMA today for the Matisse exhibit that is currently on view, which is excellent. Not a complete retrospective, rather a detailed look at his work from 1913-17 and full of beautiful, and sometimes quite rare (monoprints, etchings, sketches) works that were really sublime.
surprise/treat was an installation by Bruce Nauman called "Days" (ahem no relation to my album of the same name ahem) that was very fun, and except for one teensy detail, very well executed. there were two rows of white panels hanging in the room, each driven by a small (but clearly top-notch) transducer. audio content was many many voices reciting the days of the week (in english). the detail that really drove us mad was that these panels were attached to aircraft cable (hung from the ceiling + weighted to the floor) by office clips. argh. of course this exhibit closes on Monday so hurry up, squad.
