yep, 2880 is awesome. everybody needs one, I have the footpedal but it really depends how much of a "guitarist" you are if you need it. mine is boxed as I do not "play guitar" that much at the moment.
one more thing: pitch function in semitone = big big love
I never used the usb access or midi sync though and some people say it sucks (midi sync)

yeah the semitone pitch function sounds great.. hey, nothing against octaves, but a few more options is always good.
can't imagine I'll use the midi sync at all either.

will try the footpedal with my guitarist hat on.  I always find it amusing/annoying that the demonstration videos they usually have for guitar pedals are always very "musical". ie either lots of shredding or supposedly impressive playing or use of looping / delays in an obvious song-structured manner.  ( I suppose thats how most people will use them 'though.) always have to imagine what other uses the pedal could for.

yeah, i have a feeling, or at least an idealistic wish, that the people in these companies.. electro-harmonix, etc, that make/design the loopers do so for the "looping community", ie: a project of love and creativity... and that it's just a side effect that some guy uses one so he can accompany his own riffs as he plays a solo wedding gig.

but, it could very well be the other way around.

Its the poodle hair of the guys in the boss videos that puts me off... :P

A question about the 2880 - when you start overdubbing, does it move to the next track atuomatically, or can you build (say) five layers on the first track, and then move on to track 2?

you can do either

in order to continue to overdub track 1:

hit new loop
hit record
perform your initial loop
hit record at the end-point of your loop
then hit record again and continue to overdub on the first track

otherwise you can record an initial loop and automatically go on to record on track 2 if you like as well:

hit new loop
hit record
perform your initial loop
hit play at the end-point of your loop (which the unit will then begin playing back your initial loop on track 1, while automatically switching to track two and continuing to record)

you can engage all the different tracks and record/play while the unit is running/recording, without stopping. its really nice..

very intuitive...

performed my first live show using the 2880 on Wednesday.

I'm used to using a guitar amp, but for this performance the 2880 was DI'd straight into the PA so that I could benefit from the stereo output (when using my amp, my setup had always been mono).  What a difference it made!  Four separate tracks, panned across the stereo soundfield, it sounded absolutely huge in places!

Disappointing the masses since 2006; www.low-point.com

Nice. IBoth my partner and I currently haul around two large amps each  for stereo. It blows...

I bought the 2880 and it seems great so far. I think I've got the general hang of how to use it - will be using it at a gig on the 4th, so we'll see then.

I am leaning towards the extra foot controller. seems like it would be pretty useful.
