i think for once i'll actually be responsible and see if i can create such effects on either of my Eventide units.. while not the grand daddy of eventides (the H8000) my units (the Eclipse and the classic H3000 D/SE) might be able to handle delays with some unpredictable pitch shifting and filtering

if not. .. well, i may have to kiss $300 goodbye.. but i should at least humor myself (and my wife) and get my hands dirty programming..

or you could stick your favorite delay plug-in into audiomulch taking different feeds off it and modulate/filter those to your hearts content.
the pedal would be nice in a live set up all the same.
not sure I'd get much use out of it at home as to warrant the cost.

this is the kind of pedal I try to model in MSP + Reaktor.  It is very hard to do: easy of use, quality of sound, transparency of control (I don't really wanna hear LFOs forcing everything around).  The beauty of this thing is in its balance of simplicity & complexity - this is, at least by my "haven't used it" measure, a well designed piece of kit, but we are all in love with it and not a one of us has fessed up to actually using it.  yeah, we can hack up some crazy stuff in software, but there is a real elegance (and flexibility) to this thing that takes the pressure of making sure my/yr computer can do "everything."

and, while I'm sure our performance practices differ, I'd always take this to a gig.

yeah I'd agree with you Billy, I was just responding to Taylor's comment about programming.
I'd totally have it at a gig.
I've been mucking about a lot with pedals lately; delays, tremolos, fuzzes etc and enjoying just getting away from the computer.
Having so many options with the computer can sometimes be hindrance as well as a blessing.

regarding the comments above about the H7600/maxmsp/etc... i'm totally for SIMPLE gear that does one (or two) jobs really really well.. sure, i could sit all day (or week) and program a kyma patch that does this (well, ok, i don't have the kyma chops to do it that well)... but, the point is, the immediacy is so important for creativity...

On the subject of tape delay pedals...does anyone have any experience with the Boss RE-20 space echo emulation? I don't remember seeing much about that particular unit here on the forum. Been eying it up with interest to add to my set up...

got this yesterday and after a quick test last night i have to say i'm pretty impressed. the sound is pretty "deep". I've never played with tape delay in the flesh so i don't really have anything to compare it too except dsp emulations, but it definately sounds fantastic compared to the other tape delay emulations that i've tried.

the foot switches are really hard to depress for a desktop twiddler like myself though, and the lack of decals for the second functions is pretty annoying.

oh yeah, I need one, too. Simply cannot afford it at all right now :'( :'( :'( :'(, plus I have some similar less cool pedals things that do a comparable job.  :(

just got one in the mail today. In mono it seemed OK. In stereo it's amazing. I'm still getting used to it so there may be a setting and/or use that makes mono shine too. Exciting. The Forum definitely made me feel a feeding frenzy to buy one...

just curious, what is it about the stereo imaging that makes such a difference? is just the spring reverb in stereo, or do the echos ping-pong, or is it something more complex than that?
