I've been on hip hop recommendations from another forum for the past 5-6 hrs
here they are in youtube playlist form: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5144C5FBDF868EF2
Goes everywhere from Roots Manuva to Dr Dre to Slum Village, Jedi Mind Tricks, Hieroglyphics, etc.
I skip whenever I don't like a track.
But for now I'm bored of 4/4 beats and MCs, on to other things!
It's all about Dilla! And Black Milk and Finale. Get with Detroit yo!
A lot of people have been bringing up Dilla (these others I'll have to look into as well)
I just have yet to look into it, hip hop isn't exactly the genre on which I stay tuned & up to date with the most attention...
Since I was into it for the past few days though, I did a little exercise in style. I made a mix trying to inject subtle elements of drone into hip hop, the idea was to keep it listenable and groovy, beats & flow still at the forefront with a few sustained tones in frequency ranges not too obvious and bothersome to the 'identity' of the track.
Dunno if I succeeded, but here it is: http://www.mixcloud.com/le_berger/the-drop/
It's also what I'm listening to atm, making sure it uploaded without glitches.
