I'd go with A Static Place. Listened to both albums just yesterday. While A Static Place convinced me from the very beginning and has been a nice listen for the past few weeks, I still didn't make it past track 4 on Ravedeath, 1972. Rather tiring underwhelming.

I've had the same experience, I just figured my head was elsewhere at the time. Both occasions I've sat down to listen to Ravedeath, 1972, I've completely lost interest midway through.

I've liked A Static Place quite a bit, but the new Remain on Line I've liked even more.

Same here...i lost interest after track 5 but i really like to blame Ben Frost about that :P

now playing:

Sparklehorse + Fennesz .. which i finally found the vinyl edition in a small shop in Vienna.

Oh, and someone played his promo of belong's "common era" to me. That is pretty disappointing... fucking hell. Some people will love it but to me it lacks the depth of "october language" which is one of the best records ever.

regarding belong: I guess some people will love it. I'd just put cocteau twins, the cure's "pornography", slowdive, my bloody valentine on instead. It is synthie shoegaze with some nice distortion and some weird drum samples that give it a slight omd vibe. hard to describe... closer to freescha goes twee shoegaze than "october language".

anyway, "october language" is something like the "spiderland" of drone. fail was somehow pre-programmed, you can't really top that. So, don't want to moan/complain, "common era" is just not for me. I'll re-try when it is out though.

AR - Wolf Notes
no wolf sounds on this one either.....
What did you think of this one?
I was really dissapointed. The samples sounded really nice but when hearing the cd a few times I really had the idea listening to Crow Autumn, Marking Time and Landings all together but now with some female eerie vocals.
I really miss a variation in his sound (and that from someone who is actually listening to a lot of minimal drone music)

Today I played (among others).

Eliane Radigue - Vice Versa, etc... (Important, 2009)
Phill Niblock - G2, 44+/x2 (Moikai, 2002)

Really impressed by this Phill Niblock (as with most of his music actually).

Didn't play it much yet... maybe a bit too esotheric...
I don't mind the lack in variation though...

Well usually I don't mind the lack either. But with this it is for me just the same as those previous albums, which I find a shame.

Now listening my just purchased LP of

It's still sinking in for me but I like it very much, not sure where I'd rate it amongst their recent releases yet. The recent addition of the cellist is a great addition imo.

Now listening to Western Standards - Space Is A Place

I've been on hip hop recommendations from another forum for the past 5-6 hrs
here they are in youtube playlist form: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5144C5FBDF868EF2

Goes everywhere from Roots Manuva to Dr Dre to Slum Village, Jedi Mind Tricks, Hieroglyphics, etc.
I skip whenever I don't like a track.
But for now I'm bored of 4/4 beats and MCs, on to other things!
