stephen, can't wait to hear the CD so i'm listening to this now... wow, it's really really nice.......

yeah....

how long is the total recording?

I uploaded an excerpt of our group piece (Molly, Olivia, Steve, Stephen) to
http://soundcloud.com/stephenvitiello/moss-molly-berg-olivia-block-steve-roden-stephen-vitiello-performance-excerpt
Steve was playing lapsteel and singing, Molly played clarinet and sang, I played guitar and field recordings, Olivia had all sorts of little radios and microphones. If you hit the download button, you get a 16-bit version. Hope no one minds that I put this here rather than elsewhere on the forum.

thanks Taylor!! The concert was about 25-minutes and then we have a nice 10-minutes or so from the rehearsal. I'm hoping I can work out a way to build some studio material too...

SWANS - COP/YOUNG GOD
So extremely dark and depressing....

well yeah that's how I'd put it too...

I forgot to add: 'but somehow really beautiful'

Now: Olivia Block & Kyle Bruckmann "Teem"
easy listening compared to SWANS ;-)

I am really scared to check out the "new Swans record".
Should I bother? Or can this be compared to a new Devo, Bauhaus, etc. record (in other words: don't bother, you cannot unhear it, it will spoil your picture of what this band means to you)?

There's a special edition of the Swans album, available tommorrow (21st) at the Young God Records site. I think I'm gonna give it a try. Haven't heard the album, but i like later period Swans, and Angels of Light...

I heard some of the special disc and it sounded amazing..I believe its remixed material from the sessions.
Track I heard was a long drone piece reminiscent of the Body Lovers/BodyHaters album he did a while back.
(if you can track that one down it's well worth checking out.  a fantastic album)

Brian McBride - When the Detail Lost its Freedom, Really looking forward to his new one next month

where? what? when?
Hey Ralph, on Kranky, October 25. It's soundtrack material from a documentary about bees (which doesn't matter as much to me, the bottom line is that it's new SOTL awesomeness).

http://pitchfork.com/news/39686-new-release-brian-mcbride-ithe-effective-disconnecti/

You can hear some of the music in the trailer. I hope they delve more into soundtrack work in the future, seems like a perfect fit!

For sure Rutger- beautiful album! Just ordered my copy from Norman Records. Sarah also plays in The Declining Winter, whom some of you may know (Richard Adams of Hood's other band)

Hi Sietse; the vinyl edition. Wonderful album indeed.
It's sold out at most places but the room40 website still has a few copies for sale.

Best, Roel
