a wide range of stuff depending on mood:

Eduard Artemiev - Zerkalow/Stalker ost
Michael Nyman - A Zed and Two Noughts ost
Henry Mancini - Experiment in Terror ost
Meredith Monk - Dolmen Music
Augustus Pablo - Original Rockers
White Rainbow - Prism of Eternal Now

(I'll also own up to some Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult and King Crimson whilst doing the vacuuming yesterday..)

Still waiting for my copy to arrive...

Now listening: Phonophani 'Kreken' (really great!)

And... Phonophani and Oval will perform in Amsterdam next month :-)

Arkhonia, Trails/Traces

Just found a copy of this in yesterday's mail. I don't know anything about them or this label, White Box. Anyone have any knowledge they'd like to share? This is some pretty nice material...

Yeah, there a nice little label form Manchester. Danny Saul is one of the owners. His solo record (on the label) is really great. And the album by Richard A Ingram is one of the best releases of the year, i think...

Hi, new to the board and thought this would be a good place to start... My cd's player's been on the fritz lately, so all tapes mostly,

Tape -
The Teratologist - Cabinet of Curiosities - dark drones made from ancient test generators
Lavas Magmas - American DNA - my tour companion this summer.. Amazing electroacoustic psychedelic noise
Red Electric Rainbow - Boredom In Paradise - tangerine dream worship
Vacio Perfecto - Geografia Interiore - old school industrial made with audiomulch

Net -
Claudio Curiotti - Nepalese: Sounds from Nepal
Astrowind - Fresh Wind In The Valley Of Dreams

Vinyl - Simon Scott - Navigare - over and over and over again...

been listening to marcus fischer's "arctic/antarctic" at night and exploring the new oval... i've got some personal issues with oval, but his music often does impress me... tho, i'm not sure about the big drums he added in his new one. seems a sort of obvious thing to throw in to please the "post rock" crowd.. dont' know if it's really working... but, you can't deny the beauty of the rest of the album...

Oh snap- minimal beef! I think you could take him Taylor :D Still need to get into his new one, I like what I've heard so far though.

Laura Gibson & Ethan Rose - Bridge Carols
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (Legacy Edition)
Noto & Sakamoto - utp_

been listening to the new oval all day today and this is my main gripe too.  i don't mind the inclusion of drums, but they all sound exactly the same.  like the same drum loops used over and over.  after a few tracks, it becomes predictable:  cool electronic notes and effects, then SPLASH, a cymbal and loose drum hits from the same stock.

yea, you said it much better than i, darren.. that's exactly what i was thinking. plus the fact they're these big bombastic drums over incredibly meticulous programming and sound design. stinks of pop-appeal to me. sales.

basically my feeling is the same, the drums have really really kept me away from the oval stuff.  some of the electronic material is great, and, frankly, feels like a great progression for the oval-sound, but ugh argh those drums

my 12k/line autumn releases arrived...  seaworthy+matt rosner, murralin lane and yann novak.

all great, but the murralin lane album is especially hitting the spot.  really lovely.
