re: cassette.. If it can handle Snoop Dogg, it should handle Celer. Are you getting that 'ripping-a-piece-of-paper-for-a-really-long-time' sound? :)

this cassette, along with a few others I've obtained recently, just turn my boombox into this lovely humming thing sitting on my floor.  it's great, and totally changes the listening experience for me.

Does it also compel you to change into some parachute pants and throw some cardboard down?

or

You should carry a boombox around on your shoulder blasting ambient music. The future is here...

still listening to Phill Niblock's "Touch Strings" from time to time - Some new, small details come to my attention almost every time I play it.

today: Ambarchi / O'Rourke / Haino - Tima Formosa (Black Truffle) - given that Haino's here, it's surprisingly hushed and laid back. A nuanced affair.

listening again. really fantastic stuff!
I really really like the music, but the singing...
Where David Sylvian does it the right way, Sylvain Chauveau is just missing the point of it all...

Today been listening quite a few times to Marc Behrens - SleppetHarold Budd - The Pavilion Of Dreams (Editions EG, 1978)

Hmm, I found it to be really predictable. But what bothered me the most is how the vocals are so much above the rest of the music. It doesn't blend together. And the effects used on the vocals (stereo image, cutting it up, filters etc)...to me it sounds a bit to easy.

But. that music...WOW. Really blows me away. My favorite by him so far.

Just started a pre-bedtime listen of an in my opinion really neglected gem:
Starving Weirdos - B/P/M Series 1 (Blackest Rainbow, 2009)
Amazing vinyl only release with (treated) piano and weird sounds (as you can expect from the Starving Weirdos).
Quite some abstract stuff. Both intriguing and haunting.

I'm really into Starving Weirdos.  can be inconsistent at times but when they have it together it's really a great place.

Yeah, that Starving Weirdos LP on Blackest Rainbow is great.. I would've bought it for the cover art alone.

Tamagawa - Plus Tard, Le Meme Jour (NOECHO Records, 2009)
Spacey drones with new wave influences. Quite a nice release, not mind blowing, but the combination is a good one.
