actually yes - I hadn't thought of that, but the treatments really do achieve a similar effect, if even more sublime. there is a really fine subtlety to CRWTH - almost sneaky with it's beauty in blurred, muted strokes. haven't compared to the original yet. really enjoying my entire LLC collection these days (which has more than doubled in 2010 - crazy)
sublime is the word, billy. it's ambient in a really dreamy, super-lush sense. i don't know a thing about LLC so i hadn't any expectations, but this new cd is just pure bliss. could you give any pointers to the LLC back catalogue? i downloaded the original chorus album from the passcode that came with the line cd and it's interesting too, definitely less dreamy but cool nonetheless.
the first two LLC albums,
bloweyelashwish &
xuvetyn were eye-opening experiences for me in my youth, and total gateway drugs, though my four-track skills and pedal collection never matched Scott's. I'm 99% sure both are still available, 110% essential. my feeling is that if these were on a less gothy label, and released as new discs right now, they would blow up the blogs.
I'm a little more so-so on
Glissceule &
Voirshn, which introduce computer-based processing & assembly. still lovely stuff.
