yeah Other Music is "it"

here's one upcoming show - VERY CLOSE to OM as well so hey.  also close to GREAT PLACES to ENJOY BEER.
------
Barry Chabala / June 30th, 7:00 pm $6

downstairs from the Ontological Theater in St Mark's.
131 E. 10th Street (at 2nd Avenue), New York City
------

don't know what art is going on.  whitney biennial is closed and the art scene slows down for the summer.  you can't really go wrong with our museums tho - no promises about art gallery-land.

but really what are you looking to do w/yr time...you'll have plenty to spend a day or three w/art.  what musics are you interested in seeing?  etc etc etc

Thanks !
I know Other Music and love that place.
Thanks for the concert recommendation.
I will stay in Brooklyn the second week, and I just want to spend a week there, like a New-Yorker :)
I want to go to the ICA, spend some time at Williamsburg, do some field recordings etc.
For the music : we're on the 12k forum, so I guess we share the same tastes ;)

I have a sound installation on the High Line (http://www.thehighline.org/news) in the 14th Street Tunnel. It's ongoing each day from 7am - 10pm. Regardless of my installation, The High Line is a fantastic place to visit. ... Stephen

coincidentally we just saw notice of this in a few local mags...on our list of "things we had better do this summer" now.

My stay in Brooklyn was awesome.
I visited the High Line but didn't find your sound installation :(
I went to Other Music and bought Shoals ;)
Saw Black Dice live.
Enjoyed NY food & cocktails & weather.
Love your city!

Guess I don't need to start a new topic for this..

Recently arrived in NYC and here until October 8th.
Have bought a swag of CDs at Other Music (and will go back again for some more..) Downtown music Gallery and Earwax records are also on my list of shops..

Does anyone have any recommendations for shows to see? (music/art)
Or other things to check out?

On my list at present is:
Art: Brion Gysin at New Museum, Maya Deren's Legacy at MOMA, Hipster, Hustlers and handball players at the Met
Sound: Elian Radigue at Issue Project Room, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Expo 70,  Tom Verlaine

thanks
Tim

I liked the High Line quite a bit, but should be good weather for it...with rain it is probably boring.

Further the Big Lebowski shop is a must see...
