true, true...

I knew this thread would be resurrected sooner or later.

sampling Old Speckled Hen currently. needs time to bite through due to dense flavor but then settles well

Listening to some Madvillain and sipping on a North Coast Red Seal Pale Ale. Delicious!

Had some real nice treats at Good Dog here in Philly earlier this evening. They have an excellent beer selection, so I managed to check out the Lagunitas IPA on draft (I love this brewery...seriously. Everything they do is gold!) and the Smuttynose Winter Ale. The Smuttynose was a wonderful surprise. I love winter ales, but I find most of Smuttynose's brews to be extremely heavy and overly robust. This, however, was well balanced, with a lovely roasted flavor and hints of caramel. Highly recommend checking it out if you can track some down!

Lagunitas and Smutty Nose can't do much wrong by me.  This past summer my local specialty grocer had a tasting w/Stone Brewing and myself, Anne, and my old pal Chloe went through like four growlers of their Arrogant Bastard awful fast.

I'm trying to remember this lovely beer I had last time I went to Burp Castle but for obvious reasons I can't recall...

Nice thread Taylor! I'm ashamed that I live in MI and haven't tried this one yet- I'll keep an eye out...

I've been going with some Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale lately, a winter classic!

until mr. rannisto shows up let me introduce Odolon Beer that I'm just sipping. the company comes from Kiev, Ukraine and makes ten different kinds of beer. The one particular I'm having is wheat beer. Very bubbly but other than that one of the finest wheats I ever had. I also tried their White Beer, which has coriander relish flavor (it was ok, not totally convincing) and Velvet - dark, caramel malt flavor, exceptional.

here a list of all their products:

http://www.obolon.com/en/production/beer/

(make sure you don't have any region selected (should be set to international) in the upper right corner of the site to see all the available products. i guess it will load international as default)

It looks like Odolon exports into US and has a partner company in Brooklyn, so I guess it's available somewhere in NY area. The address and phone below. Not all products are shipped to US, though (will list when you set region to the USA instead of international). Give it a try when you get a chance.

Doyna Ltd
1801 86th Street, Suite 2
Brooklyn, New York 11214

PS. I found this on their web site:

"Just like breakfast cereals, beer is a rich source of B vitamins which are an essential part of a healthy diet." :)

on now:, or "in" now? or "going down now" ?

Snake River Pale Ale

http://www.snakeriverbrewing.com/

snake river has a huge brew list, some great looking stuff in there

the pale ale is hoppy, but not overly so. pretty smooth. nothing super unique about it, but definitely a good solid choice for a nice pale ale.

Not sure if this stuff was brought up in the last version of this thread, but I'm a huge fan of Hitachino Nest Beer. Best beer logo EVER:

yes yes.. the hitachino white beer is my #1 favorite summer beer... not only is it so good.. but for me i have some really nice memories associated with it as well.

one of these days, maybe when our massive house renovation is done.. i'll crack open my bottle of the Rauschbier that Sogar sent me... the crazy smokey stuff.... yum... savoring that bottle though..

just had one i didn't like at all..

fort collins brewery (colorado)... Retro Red ale

http://www.fortcollinsbrewery.com/retrored.html

not sure if "red ale" is a style (it seems to be).. and perhaps one i don't like... just had a weird flavor to it. never tried any of their others, so, not writing off the brewery, just this one brew.
