Are there careers that are possible with this stuff?
« on: April 12, 2010, 08:20:09 pm »
Hello, I'm a junior in high school and now is critical in figuring out what I want to do with my life. With sound design, sound art, music technology, etc. as some of my biggest interests, I was just wondering if there are any worthwhile careers dealing with this stuff.

                        Thanks for any help, Aidan

Buy a lottery ticket. Less of an financial investment and a greater chance of return.

Oddly enough, you should consider starting off at a radio or tv station.  See if they have an apprenticeship / intern type program.  Learning to run the board at a radio station / editing commercials / operating a camera (ect) might not be what you want to end up doing, but they will lay the ground work for eventual possibilities in the future.

Best of luck!

i thought this whole deal of making music/sound-art was about fun and all other things that comes with it are just a welcome thing...

though, indeed try TV stations and such.

there are some people who make a living doing this, yes... but it can take a long time. don't go into it expecting to make a living from it. it's the wrong kind of music to ever be popular or paid high amounts for. do it because you love it and the rest will fall into place.
