the cathedral.. yes, when i was in the UK last october i picked one
up. the infinite reverb is quite nice. it turns anything you put into
it into a drone... not bad
i also like the spring reverb emulation
on it.
i'd recommend checking one out for sure.
the only drawback, though, is you have to press down the switch to
hold the reverb. as soon as you let go the reverb fades away. it can
get quite tiring to hold it down with your hand for 6 minutes
i have a cathedral and love infinite switch as well - i have a
workaround in my signal path to get around having to hold down the
footswitch...
when you are holding down the infinite switch, you can turn the reverb
all the way up (which essentially does the same thing as holding down
the switch) then you can release the footswitch and keep the
sustaining drone.
at this point you cannot play into the pedal anymore as any notes will
add to the reverb drone. to remedy this i place an ab switch before
the cathedral that effectively bypasses the unit and into a separate
input on the mixer. using this method allows you to then go back to
the cathedral to add to the drone as well throughout a piece.
...
the other option would be to solder a toggle to the momentary switch
like the modification you can do to the stereo memory man to get
around holding down its switch for looping as well... this mod
effectively gives you the ability to use the pedal as usual, or keep
the momentary switch held down (without have to give up a free hand or
foot to do it) i would love to get the courage to break out a
soldering iron on these two pedals...
