so yeah bump i guess.

after a shipping delay, being out of town for most of may, and a lost soldering iron at work, I have my shruti assembled and starting to cook.

more on this soon - sounds great, sick filter and crazy oscillators

well it sounds awesome.  I have a bamboo case coming and then there are a few more things I need to develop for it (sensor array + portable/solar power).

I cooked this up this morning just for kicks:

yes.  and if you believe it, that is actually my desk at work.  where the good soldering kit is.

ha thanks!  the only spots really calling for stashing a set of tweezers in the case are on the front panel - the cuts for the pots were too small and I had to do a bit of ripping/filing to get the size right - otherwise all the pieces were laser-cut from a chunk of multi-ply bamboo.

I would estimate initial assembly at like 6-8 hours.  assembling the case was really about 3 days (glue takes time to dry, some of the joins needed to be filed).  and now a connection has gone bad....it's an ongoing process.

ah, that's too bad.

hang in there it seems great.  i had been considering buying a kit as well.

maybe when i'm done building a DEP-1 kit (http://vimeo.com/14089098) i'll move on to a synth.

eh it's a process.  part of it has to do with the overall design, which Olivier is correcting for the next iteration - part of it has to do with my assembling this thing in large steps with goof-off/gig time in between.  Ideally, I would have done all the assembly in one swoop, never even moved the thing from the shop table before I had it encased.  but it was too cool.  just too cool.
