Hi Richard, you can't really expect too much at that price range (for something with decent tone and playability you would probably be looking more at the $300-500 range). But you might want to check out one of the lower-end Yamahas or Epiphones. You can get into a Fender for a little more. I'm looking to upgrade to one of the mid-range Seagulls myself, which are really nice Canadian-made guitars.

Hey Michael thanks for replying, I've managed to find a Fender Electro-Acoustic for about $230 as well as an Electro Harmonix memory man w/Hazarai looper. I'm currently waiting for it to arrive within the next few weeks. I imagine for what I use it for it should be just fine. Have you had any experience with the hazarai looper or any looping devices for that matter?..

i would say go 2nd hand

if you stay out of places like guitar center you can find good guitars on the cheap in independent guitar stores
you can get some older Japanese made guitars for the likes you are looking at

and these stores usually are run by guitar nerds so the guitars are usually set up nice
