SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Ciat-Lonbarde Coco...
« Last post by chorus7 on April 03, 2013, 06:37:42 am »
I picked up one of his (PeterB) older instruments (Cocolase) a few months back but sold it to get a CocoQuantus and if you haven't had a chance to play on one they are quite amazing! Its two digital delays/looper with VCO's for modulating different settings of the delays... Very Lofi and warm sounding... If you have a chance check it out... He also makes an incredible drum machine/synth called the PlumButter...

This is a track I did with the Cocolase so you can get an idea of how it sounds...

FIELD RECORDING / Re: The "what portable recording device should I buy?" thread
« Last post by Nordman on April 03, 2013, 01:33:41 am »
Hi!

I'm going to Malaysia and Borneo this summer for a month of adventures. I'm thinking of producing some kind of sound-diary. Currently I own a Zoom H2 but i think it's so noisy and it would be great if there were something more water resistance. Any suggestions?  ;)

SELF PROMOTION / Machinefabriek & Minus Pilots - Signals
« Last post by machinefabriek on April 02, 2013, 11:01:33 am »
Out now: Minus Pilots & Machinefabriek 'Signals'.

Available on cd, right here:
http://dronarivm.com/2013/03/15/machinefabriek-minus-pilots-signals

and in digital formats, here:
http://machinefabriek.bandcamp.com/album/signals

Minus Pilots' used several electric basses together with an array of memory man delay/looping pedals to create the initial building blocks for 'Signals'. Leaving these bare sketches intact, subtly knitting them together as one piece, Machinefabriek added (sampled) clarinet, strings and voice, creating a lush sonic palette. Presented as one 35 minute piece, 'Signals' is a gentle floating patchwork of hypnotizing beauty.

12K + LINE / Re: regarding the new shipping costs...

shipping does include tracking.. however, its not sent to you automatically.. just shoot me an email after you get your shipping notification.. and i can send you the tracking number.

glad you found the LP locally!

in the end I bought the origin lp locally in a store, and the download additionally in the 12k store. not much more expensive and probably less hassle.

but good to know that shipping includes a tracking number now, I might consider buying directly again when the next shop exclusive limited edition appears.

ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Re: Lap Harps

a good quality contact mic. I think would work best. Also known as a piezo mic.

Low cost to purchase and very easy to build; if you are DIY minded.

SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Re: confessions of an acid addict

I listened to a couple of tracks from that album. It's pretty much the same as the early Plastikman was, isn't it?

By the way, totally acid unrelated:
I got the x0xb0x flashed with MarOS, an alternate operating system. It adds a few brilliant features for random pattern variations.
You can, for example, let random notes from a pattern pitched up and down, with adjustable probability, have pauses or slides added, also with adjustable probability. and then let these new variations occur every second, third, fourth, you name it repetition of the pattern.
the probabilities can be adjusted during playback.
spits out midi as well, so you can record these variations and use them for other machines too.
instant arpeggio madness :)

for me, as someone not using ableton live / max4live or reaktor it's so much fun to break up the linearity of cubase with this.

Recently bought a nice 2nd hand 49-string zither in Vienna! So fun to play.

Can anyone give me advice on how I would best go about trying to amplify it electronically?
