How many of you ordered the Disintigration Loops LP/CD/DVD/Book boxset?

Details are here: http://temporaryresidence.com/descriptions/trr194.php I think the steep price tag is actually pretty reasonable, I just have to build up the courage to hit the "buy" button.

SELF PROMOTION / "Sleep Paths" by Seaworthy (new CD on Slaapwel)
« on: August 12, 2012, 05:54:54 pm »
Hi kids, a bit of self promotion here for my latest release, a very special item from the wonderful Slaapwel Records!

Here is the description from the label:

"While typing up some text to accompany this release I looked up the very first few e-mail conversations Cameron and I had about a release on Slaapwel Records. Not only does our first email date back to autumn 2008, it explains this release a good deal. Cameron explained that, round the time his first child was born, he recorded some tracks which he liked to call ‘sleep loops’, pieces of either guitar, electronics, ukelele or music box that were used as lullabies for his daughter. He reworked these tracks into one long piece of shimmery soundwaves. Meanwhile both Cameron and I got another child (not together, you silly :)), so he made another lullaby which is included here as a bonus track --- and suddenly we’re four years later and finally ready to release Sleep Paths, a patient, floating piece that’s absolutely sleepworthy.

Cameron Webb has PhD in environmental sciences, for which he spends a lot of time in the Australian wetlands and has recorded for 12K, Preservation and Low Point.

CD comes in our traditional Stumptown Arigato Pak, yet stitched with original wallpaper of Cameron's childhood bedroom - first 50 copies come with a free xeroxed booklet made by Seaworthy himself - no reservations/no extra charges, this one's a gift from Cameron to the early supporters. Comes with a free download only 'bonus' track if you order at slaapwel directly."

You can only get the super special edition from Slaapwel directly so please don't snooze! Order http://www.slaapwelrecords.com/releases/2012/7/31/seaworthy.html.

SELF PROMOTION / Bellows and Breath - A new Seaworthy release
« on: March 14, 2012, 05:10:32 pm »

Seaworthy: Bellows and Breath

The Preservation label presents Bellows and Breath, the fourth album from Sydney’s Seaworthy.

Seaworthy is the musical guise of Cameron Webb, who for the best part of a decade has developed singular soundscapes scored with guitar-driven ambience, field recording and digital processing. In recent years, Webb has recorded to acclaim for the esteemed 12K label, releasing the 1897 album in 2009 followed by a collaboration with Matt Rosner, Two Lakes. His compositions reflect his deep connection to environment and nature; each piece often feels like a journey through beautiful, untethered terrain. For Bellows and Breath, Webb has explored a different terrain of his own, paring back his trademark guitar to build a work based largely around harmonium, melodica and found sounds. By way of its title, Bellows and Breath is a new side to Webb’s sonic meditations on movement, air and its interaction with the environment.

The pure rhythmic hiss and crackle of the harmonium’s bellows proved the inspiration for the way Webb played the harmonium itself, becoming an unforced undertow to a set of bowing chords that invoke an open spirit in their composition and measure. Spare and fluid acoustic guitar intermittently reflects off these surfaces, also layered by combinations of melodica, incidental rushes of wind through grass and distant sounds of birds, insects and more. This may be Webb once again in sentiment with nature, however Bellows and Breath represents a bold new step in his special and personal trajectory.

Released on CD in April 2012. Limited to 300 copies.

12K + LINE / Re: 12K PACKAGING CHANGE

Any small price increase wouldn't put me off and I doubt it would seriously discourage other either.

I really do like the packaging for the Northern re-issue too so I wouldn't be too disappointed with a move to that style. However, having said that, apart from the plastic issue, I don't really have a problem at all with the current packaging.

Oh hearing you speak about hydrophones.. what does a a "usual" hydrophone cost? I mean a basic one down to 10m under water? Thanks

One of the best investments I made was buying one of these hydrophones from Aquarian. http://www.aquarianaudio.com/hydrophones/stock.html Around US$150

It is something I dip into every now and again. I'm holding off until a long car drive before attempting it all in one sitting.

BTW, the seaworthy track included in this compilation won't be available anywhere else, it is exclusive to SEQUENCE2!

My initial hang ups with it is the (seeming) lack of editing tools to work straight up with waveform / samples, the lack of precision with certain tools (like the harmonizer, can't enter a value, you have to scroll the mouse on the fader and it's not too precise) and choice of effects (where's my convolution reverb?! My pitch shifter?|?|?|?)

I'm an audiomulch junkie. Also everything I do is through audiomulch at some point or another. I would really like to have a wave/loop editor within the program so I can load samples and modify visually. Is there a VST I can download to help with this? Any recommendation appreciated, they don't need to be free as the benefits of such a VST would be well worth the investment.
