oren ambarchi «audience of one» (touch)

so far, so very good...

Salt is my favorite 2012 song so far...
Yeah, Oren Ambarchi and Paul Duncan should work together more often. This song is just amazing.

Here in Amsterdam there is something going on about every evening, on average I go about 3 to 4 times a week.
And some nice things coming up this week again.
Thursday an evening with installations by Machinist, Alva Noto and more and live performances by BMB Con and Jacob Kirkegaard and more. And Friday we get some Ben Nash (among others) and Sunday Familly Underground.
So yes, again a good week.

hmm, live acts seen in 2012...that's a difficult question. The same as with me buying too much lp's and cd's I also do attend quite a bit of live shows.
I will just mention some highlights so far:

High Wolf
Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier
Morton Feldman - For Bunita Marcus (performed by the Ives Ensemble)
Tiny Ruins
Catherine Christer Hennix & Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage
Grouper
Celer & Machinefabriek
Dead Neanderthals

And this evening I am going to see Daniel Higgs, Head of Wantastiquat and Sewn Leather.

I only know Scytale, but would love to hear the others.
But somehow after receiving Scytale I did loose track of the label again.

Guess there is just too much out there.

Today's listening so far:
Chris Watson - El Tren Fantasma
Chris Watson - Oceanuns Pacificus
Christina Carter & Pocahaunted - Split
Talk Talk - Laughint Stock
The Cosmic Dead - The Cosmic Dead.

THE FUTURE OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS / Re: Promotional Work
« on: March 18, 2012, 01:34:18 pm »
A lot of websites and magazines (at least those I check on an irregular base) do focus on what is already known (either the artist or the label) and what surprises me most is that some of the releases written about are already sold-out (just check a random Eleh review) at the time of publication.
At some point this is kind of weird to me, 'cause what is the use at that point? Making people who didn't buy it feel bad about missing out on it, is it to please the labels?
Anyhow, hope things start roling again soon (when I finally have received the next release on my label after months of waiting...).

Finally got me to listen to Fennesz + Sakamoto - Flumina for the first time.

And I wouldn't be surprised if it is the last time as well.
If CD 2 does get some more tension in the music this has been about the biggest waste of money for 2011.
It is as boring as it is good. Or better said: it is bloody perfect, which is its biggest problem.

Sublamp - In Our Hiding Voice

Again a lovely album after his previous on Dragon's Eye Recordings (if there were albums in between I did miss them)
