Just listened to side one on SoundCloud, now listening to side 2. Sounds great! Love the cover image too - is that the Lincolnshire coast?

close - it was taken at Blakeney on the North Norfolk coastline.  It was bloody freezing that day too!

Hi All,

The second mailout from me in as many weeks, but as i've had a LOT of people contact me about the following release i've decided to make it available for pre-order.  Only 300 copies will be available in this limited edition one-off vinyl pressing.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! 8^)

Anyway, here are the details;

LP035 - Gareth Hardwick - Of The Sea And Shore - Vinyl LP

http://www.low-point.com/LP035.html.  Please note that this is a pre-order item and copies are expected to ship the week beginning the 26th April 2010.

NOTE:  If ordering multiple items, it'd be really handy if you kept your pre-order separate from you other purchases, that way i can send out the other items straight away  - thanks!

In other news, please be aware that the two latest releases from Low Point are very much available to purchase right now, so please check them out;

LP032 - Kogumaza - Sevens b/w Mara 7" single (transparent red vinyl!) - http://www.low-point.com/LP032.html

&

LP034 - Spartak - Verona cd - http://www.low-point.com/LP034.html

Thanks for putting up with these messages, take care!

Gareth

LP035 - Gareth Hardwick 'Of The Sea And Shore' LP (available to pre-order early April)

About to check out the other couple of releases, but, I must say, I am most excited about this.  Can't wait to hear it -- on vinyl, no less.

And mastered by Mr Taylor Deupree for optimum sound quality.

Announcement about pre-orders to happen very soon.  Only 300 copies are going to be pressed, so don't hang around!

OTHER MUSIC / Re: Full album streams

i'm almost certain that John from Type has gone on record stating that his format of choice is vinyl, with cd being a 'third choice' after mp3/download, so it's perhaps understandable that the Type cds might not be of the highest possible standard in terms of presentation. (though saying that, the only Type releases i own are all on vinyl, which all look and sound great)

I quite often wish that Low Point could more vinyl releases, but the cost and available storage space soon puts a stop to my plans...

i've started using Soundcloud on the Low Point website to allow people to preview releases, which i think works really well.

I agree with the previous points of presenting a whole album as streaming audio is counter-intuitive - why buy it when it's already there for you to listen to?

ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Recommend me a reverb unit
« on: January 25, 2010, 04:44:59 am »
Hi All,

I'm looking to upgrade the reverb unit i use and would like to hear any recommendations you guys have.

I'm currently using an Alesis Nanoverb, which is *ok*, but i think there will be a better unit out there.

It can be either a pedal or rack unit, though as my Nanoverb sits on top of my Gibson Echoplex anything with forward facing controls would be preferred for easier adjustments.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

+ 1 on the recommendation for Japanese guitar brands, esp. the lawsuit models from the 70's.
