SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Re: Nord Modular/Modular G2
« on: February 10, 2012, 05:06:37 am »
yeah, looks like PC only. it's a myth that the DX is hard to program. all you need is a basic concept of FM synthesis... or, use it like i do.. as a 6-oscillator sinewave pad instrument :)

i'll try to get some of my NM patches up here in the coming days.

it took me time to learn some dx7 basics and still an fm aficionado (kb+velocity tracking here are a nightmare, imho), but I ended using a simple basic tip: starting the desired or blank program with algorithms 16,17,18,  leaving operator 1 on, and turning the others off.

you can see why on the table:

http://bb-attachments.cycling74.com.s3.amazonaws.com/3015.Fig414.png.resize

..much more clear to edit following "hierarchy" on operators (and yes, that copy+paste tip on envelopes helps a lot  too!)

love the alising from this machine (converters?), especially on envelopes. dx-tx can sound warm too!

now it´s time for making some ambien-ish stuff with  80´s piano-flute presets :)

best,

pug

great project-work, moize!  I´ll check your sounds tonight..for sure I´ll enjoy them!

(yes, here another G1-G2 user..in fact, as I can remember, I keep some patches from you...not sure if I picked them from EM or early 12k forum)

pd: few days ago was using again my G1kb+os9... and possibily it´s my all time fav synth. (followed by the mw-xt and the classic dx7) :)

scott cortez work on guitars is superb.

ops...I´m sorry to re-post again! Will try to delete it.

once again apologies,

I suggest: pre-warm a towel, take the polaroid and put it into the towel immediately (that only works if it's not too cool outside or if your motive is not too far away from home or another warm place).

thanks for your tips!!

tried with their black sheet attached with tape to the cameras, with no luck:

will try the towel one this weekend while taking pics at home

Wow, I like yours too, Charlie. You got that cold distance in it, which I love so much.

Polaroid is very expensive.. you need to consider very well which shots to take..

I pay like 30 Swiss francs for 8 pictures, which is around 38 dollars.

Great picts, as always!

I was really excited when the guys from Impossible Project re-started the whole thing again...but honestly I´m little bit disappointed with their products. (Or maybe I´m making something wrong)

I spent lots of € buying their films, both 600-sx70 formats, and of course, using the old Polas from my dad+aunt (both in excellent cosmetics and working ok with expired but original Pola films).

The same as always: not clear results, following their instructions carefully, asking again and again, scanning and sending back to them my blurry (mainly blank) pics...so I refused to buy more cartridges...and went back to 35-120mm plastic and vintage cameras.

pd: any Fuji Instax users here? (just to compare)

best,
pug
