i might have to spring for a 2880 and a strymon delay now, jeez

luckily my local music store offers financing and stocks EHX products
now just have to choose between a timeline or el capistan
i'm thinking though if i just got the timeline i should be good, coupled with my time factor and cassette 4-track tape loops

but oh man, the 2880

just rented a boss 2 track looper for the month, so gonna see how an extra looper fits in

thanks all  :)

thanks for the help taylor

maybe a 2880 question

where might the benefit of having 4 tracks for looping come into play vs.  just one, i would imagine having stereo outs your bouncing this all into one or two channels in your daw anyway right

and what makes the looper on the el capistan quirky

thanks

hey mac

you might want to check out something by focusrite, they have the saffire 14(firewire) and a new thing, scarlett(usb 2)

both are 6 ins and 8 outs and go for 249.00 USD

I have and saffire pro 40(also firewire) which is great, been using it for about 6 months now with  no problems(win xp and Reaper)

the only weird thing, at least for me is the software that runs it, took me a bit to set up but runs great now(im kinda dumb at these things though)

mic pres are clean and the latency is good also, the one thing i like the most though is headphone outs with volume on the front to boot

good looking

but seriously, what's the story on the timeline

should this be brought in for debate also?

if you could only have one,

would you choose an el capistan or 2880
i realize these are totally different pedals but so much praise has been given for both

already have a timefactor, but one of the things i don't like about it is you can't use the looper with the delays :'(

although i have re-amped things at times, i have always done it the ghetto way, ie. soundcard out to amp(impedance problems)
but i'm okay with that

but this is what you want

read a bunch of excerpts in tape-op  :)before the book was published, always an entertaining read and a cool insight into 70's and 80's studio life(lots of money floating around back then)

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Re: PhantomPower guitar ?
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:36:07 am »
I don't think that this is possible as phantom power is supplying voltage to a mic and guitar is based on impedance. Are you not able to get  enough signal through your pod and and the preamps on the fireface? Plus you can always just normalize it after the fact(kidding).

So i just picked up Statson buss console emulation thing, lots of great things have been said about this thing over on GS, some saying a poor man's version of the slate VCC others saying just a different flavor.  Anywho, this is suppose to recreate some of the sound of mixing through a actual console, you know "glue" those tracks together...

Definitely subtle , but this is kind of the way these things work i guess.

Still thinking there is a compressor on the horizon but this is doing the trick for now. Might have to pony up and get the stillwell buss comp.

Thanks for the recommendation on the stillwell stuff, just picked up the vibe eq.

Running reaper, the stillwell stuff is a great deal. 1073 clone next?

Taylor, how might you compare the 1073 to the vibe eq?
