COMPUTER MUSIC / 24 bit sample rates
« on: April 16, 2012, 09:42:39 pm »
so after a computer upgrade, i've been thinking i should start recording at 24 bits, so the question for you all is, should i wait until the projects i'm working on to be finished before changing the sample rate or would it be worth it to convert what i'm working on now and finish working at 24 bit

thanks all

COMPUTER MUSIC / d16 group buy
« on: May 15, 2011, 11:14:47 am »
so yeah, d16 is having a group buy on their silverline set of plugs(distortions, reverb, chorus etc.)

one plug in is 60(cdn) then as more join, others are added for free, almost at the 2 free plug-ins spot

anyone have any thoughts on these
seems like a great deal if they don't suck

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Thoughts on the mix buss compressor
« on: April 30, 2011, 12:45:21 pm »
Is it worth it to shell out the cash for a solid mix buss compressor? ie; vintage warmer, the glue etc.  Or even the stillwell one for considerably less?

Not for the idea of "slamming" the mix, but more for just gluing things together.

Any thoughts regarding this important issue?

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Sends, Busses, etc....
« on: April 03, 2011, 04:39:42 am »
Was hoping some could share some insight into mixing.

I've been thinking lately about how others might be setting up their mixers.

Not mixing conventional music ie. guitar, bass, vocals, drums. Are you still grouping tracks together under different busses,

or just using busses for fx.

Is anyone eschewing busses and sends altogether and just having fx on single tracks?

I would love to hear how some are setting these up, any sort of tricks used or just some ideas would be great.

Thanks

it seems most of their stuff is geared to more beat driven type music but you never know

« on: October 20, 2010, 01:41:08 pm »

so i need some help with this here lads (marcus fischer where are you)

i've tried making some tape loops, short ones and the long dust breeding one and have encountered some problems with getting results i'm happy with

what is the best method for connecting the tape, i have been using transparent tape
and there is always a gap in playback, i'm thinking that there is a way to not have this happen

i have tried cutting the tape straight and on a 45 degree angle also

please help

i have made about 20 of these things and apparently i have no clue what i'm doing
