i8u's 29 Palms takes its inspiration from her recent experience at Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. Through the use of field recordings, various analog equipment and computer processing, i8u explores her response to the isomorphic spaces she encountered. 29 Palms takes form as a single track that ebbs and flows from high frequency minimalist moments to lush drone swells. These counterpoints weave together to create a truly unique space for the listener to inhabit that is both expansive in its emptiness and personal in its inclusive embrace.

Dying Star was recorded in the fall of 2008, using only a vintage analog synthesizer and mixing board. It was completely improvised, with no overdubs or post-processing. The intention was to produce a completely improvised work while remaining completely pure and secluded, the resulting recording stands as a fading presentation of memory, time, and loss, set against the ending day.

Presented at a low volume, the ideal and intended procedure for listening is with headphones, with the volume set specifically at 80%. Through intimacy, tenderness, and isolation, the resulting imaginings are stately presented, yet consistently withering away; and throughout the duration, energy pushes forward, strains, explodes, but eventually crumbles.

Blau marks the first collaboration between Tomas Phillips and Jason Bivins. A marriage of guitar improvisation and through-composition, its immediate reference point beyond lowercase sound art is the work of painter Barnett Newman. His solid color canvases, broken by vertical lines of various shades, reveal an aesthetic preoccupation with minimalist imagery aligned with a reverence for the philosophy of Spinoza. An equally pleasurable matrimony.

I second the Zed14, I had no idea how shitty my Mackie of the same size sounded until i got the Allen&Heath. The price is pretty competitive if i remember correctly.

Hello all,

I'm Yann Novak and I run Dragon's Eye Recordings. I wanted to post on here and reach out in search of projects. To pay the bills I work as a freelance designer, web developer and misc. creative project guy. I am posting here because I prefer to work on projects that are actually interesting and rewarding to see completed.

So there are a ton of things that I can do and would love to help you with:

I actually have a hot corner set to darken my monitor for all adjustments, both in the composition stage and mixing stage. I find that if I watch the playhead move through the visual composition it will inform how I hear the piece.

I am so used to doing that I can hardly have the monitor on anymore when listening, seeing something coming in the timeline totally distracts me and changes what I am listening to 'in the moment'.
