I would love it if I could listen to this whole thing all the way through w/out serious ear fatigue.

Yeah, maybe I'm just getting old, but I tend to prefer their older stuff (LP5 and earlier). Draft was pretty good though. A mix of the crazier stuff and some nice understated melody/ambiance would be nice :)

Autechre - Envane
Shackelton - 3 EPs

it'd be cool if oversteps turned out to be a full-on hip hop album.  Apparently autechre have told warp they'd love to do that.

...if so, then the title would be quite fitting  :)
maybe it's also a over the top version of dubstep...

yes, the dubstep idea crossed my mind too.  who knows, eh?

my copy arrived today.  really lovely item.... nice, simple idea and well presented.

a fave sound of mine (certainly these days) is the sound of walking on fresh snow, the crunch as it compacts under footsteps.

not listening yet, but have ordered:
http://www.autechre.ws

some of the 12k forum gang might be interested in this...
Yep, really interested to hear where they go with this one. Hopefully a good mix of the complex/textural approach and the slightly more accessible sound they have been getting back to a little bit.

yeah i saw this package on the Bleep newsletter and drooled all over my breakfast.

I would love it if I could listen to this whole thing all the way through w/out serious ear fatigue.

i would love it to be the most complex thing they've ever done.
a clashmix between chiastic slide and gantz graf would be nice...

the crazier they are, the more i like them. accessible was at the beginning  ;)

i just read about this on another forum.  this is huge!  now it's going to be agony waiting for the release date.

i use the H2, and like radere, i use it mainly for recording environmental sounds which i later process.  for the price, the inbuilt mics are pretty decent.  it's very compact and portable, and the mic-stand holder is useful when making hand-held recordings as it reduces handling sounds.
the menu is very logical and maybe most importantly it has a reasonably fast start-up, so you can catch sounds quickly.  mine starts from being switched off to record-ready in 5 seconds.

COMPUTER MUSIC / le synthe 5

i remember there being an interest in the berna and gleetchlab synths in the old forum.  i found a similar modular synth that is kinda on the same wavelength (and similar price).  based on the Synthi AKS.

mark mcguire - amethyst waves

skyramp - days of thunder

breakin out midwest synth jams, i see

billy, i've been listening to this kind of stuff non-stop recently!  also, a new discovery for me latey has been expo '70.  brilliantly spaced-out drones of the highest order.

Biggest disappointments:
Leyland Kirby - that box

yeah, underwhelming....

I really wanted to love this release, but I just...couldn't. My review for Big Shot: http://newsflash.bigshotmag.com/?p=6832.
Yeah, I've listened to samples of this release and some of his Caretaker stuff as well, just can't seem to get into it... I think I just prefer the vibe of Basinski, Gas or Jeck when it comes to this type of sound.

I actually really, really love his work as the Caretaker. A lot of that material is just breathtaking...but this just misses the mark completely. There are glimmers sure, but it's that cheese smell you mentioned that really pervades everything. People who are raving about this box clearly don't listen to much music in this vein!

i definitely prefer his work as the caretaker.  the leyland kirby album had a lot to live up to, could have done without the hype.  plus with such a big amount of material released at once, there's going to be a range in quality.
