« on: February 08, 2012, 01:33:00 am »Arctic/Antarctic by Marcus Fischer - it's very good for the weather we have in the place I live. It is -27 °C (-16.6 °F) at night and -17 °C (1.4 °F) during the day. I even decided to go Nordic Walking listening to Marcus...

oh good. glad it showed up and also glad that you are enjoying it.
it feels like arctic/antarctic is really the perfect middle ground... arctic leans more toward collected dust and antarctic is totally a precursor to monocoastal.
it's funny how it takes several years to start seeing how things slowly evolve from one sound into another.

arrived yesterday and i am really enjoying it! Some songs have this monocoastal vide but this is a good thing !
thanks! so happy to hear that so many people pre-ordered it.
yeah, all of that stuff pre-dates monocoastal from about a year up to nearly two. monocoastal was all about living with those sounds and really getting inside of what they were. each track on collected dust was much more spontaneous... never spending more than a night on their creation. when i revisited those tracks for the collection, i didn't add any new material. i just refined them a bit and just spent more time with them.
i am pretty happy with the results.

here are a few of my musical highlights of 2011.
monocoastal selling out shortly after it's release (a bit bittersweet).
traveling out to new york in the snow + ice to record and photograph what would become "in a place of such graceful shapes" with taylor deupree.
scoring a new studio space just outside our new house.
performing at substrata 1.1 in seattle and meeting so many great artists and people with a great love of music and sound.
finally, after much correspondence, meeting, recording and traveling with simon scott.
seeing The Sight Below's live set get shut down by the portland police.
dinner with taylor, simon, mim1 + steven vitiello after a very long day in new jersey.
the trip to boston with taylor + simon. and being shown a few choice spots in town by john twells.
playing a song as a trio with Clem Leek + the oo-ray in portland.
recording a new collection of collaborative tracks with ted (oo-ray) laderas.
anyone who knows me could tell you that my 2011 has been filled with ups and very extreme downs... so here's to saying good-bye to a personally rough 2011 and welcoming an optimistic 2012.
i wish everyone the best in this upcoming year.

a few weeks back i made available for purchase some limited edition prints of one of my letraset animals. this first one in an 18"x24" silk screened penguin print.
