Like Christmas, the forum works again and Taylor's Faint just came out.

Here a short live-video from my first gig in Vevey, CH. Low-quality recording though..

OTHER MUSIC / Talk Talk - the moment New Grass is being played
« on: December 21, 2011, 04:34:50 pm »
Sorry for that strange topic. I want to share this moment of bliss:

What do you guys feel when you listen to Talk Talk's Laughing Stock album and New Grass starts playing? I mean.. I totally got lost. I would even go as far as saying that Laughing Stock might be the best album I've ever heard..

And New Grass is something that totally reliefs you.

What do you think?

OTHER MUSIC / David Wenngren & Christopher Bissonnette

David Wenngren & Christopher Bissonnette's new Album The Meridians... is a masterpiece in my opinion. I love the field recordings and I don't have a clue where they're from.. It just sounds beautiful and elegant.

COMPUTER MUSIC / Music Manager for Mac
« on: November 21, 2011, 12:36:59 pm »
I don't know if i'm in the right thread. I'm looking for a good music manager (it doesn't need to be free, but not more than 60$ if possible). iTunes doesn't play FLAC and Songbird doesn't keep the data you once inserted. Please, if someone could help me! thanks.

ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Line 6 Effect Pedals
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:37:28 am »
Strymon seems to be quiet uplifting at the moment. but what about the good old line6 pedals? They're huge, they're heavy, but their sound is incredible, at least to me. I mean you have plenty of possibilities with them. what do you think about them?

FIELD RECORDING / Norway / Field Recording
« on: July 08, 2011, 11:27:30 am »
Next week I'm going to go to Norway for a 2 month-journey. Has anybody been there to take some field recordings yet? I've been there several times but not for field recordings. Any ideas about great places to record?
Thanks!

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Generally talking about soundscapes
« on: June 21, 2011, 04:08:18 pm »
Maybe you'll find it boring. I just wanted to bring that thing up, 'cause I'm curious and apparently, nobody's done that yet.

I'm just listening to Tomasz Bednarczyk's Let's Make... which brought me to the subject of sound textures, just like Tomasz used for this album.
I would like to know how YOU create such pure soundscapes (minimalistic drone textures)
Have you ever experienced something very special, totally unexpected with unusual instruments or effects apart from the normal guitar/volume pedal/vst thing?

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Something like a drone recording
« on: May 17, 2011, 03:41:26 pm »
I have a new project in which I try to compose music to give it to people who would play it then. My aim is to create some decent waves of drone, very quiet and still intoxicating. I would like to record horns, strings and choirs.
Has anyone of you done something similar yet? How did you record such a session? I'm not sure how to do it. I don't need it to be ultra high-quality, but still good enough to be clear and surrounding while listening. I don't know which microphone(s) to take and I think it's quite dull to organise such a session and to come on just with my Rode NT4 and a Handy Recorder.
What do you think would be best?
thanks!

COMPUTER MUSIC / Randomizer
« on: January 26, 2011, 01:18:00 pm »
Hello together,
does anyone have a clue about random music creation software? anyone knows a good freeware or otherwise an affordable software to buy?
I would like it best as a vst plugin to cubase. To edit a track and to randomize the given (either) notes (or samples).
Is there any solution for a steprandomizer just like the sound matrix on the web?
Thank you!!
Marc
