OTHER MUSIC / Marconi Union produce "the most relaxing song ever".

Okay. Most British people on this forum will know that The Telegraph isn't exactly Fluid Radio when it comes to informed opinions on experimental music, but this article still makes my head spin. The track itself is nice enough, but the most relaxing song ever? Hmmm. What exactly is the benchmark for 'relaxing' anyway? You'll probably see that their top ten relaxing songs ever also include the likes of Enya and Coldplay  ::)

This track has already received 157,000 listens on Youtube so far and it doesn't even appear to have been released yet. It's astounding what a bit of promotion in the right places and a mantle like "the most relaxing song ever" can do for you, even if it isn't true.

So basically...what is your take on all of this? I still can't really believe what I've just read to be honest.

I've never used an effects pedal before. When it comes to that sort of thing, it's always been a case of working with VSTs. They're cheap and straightforward. Pedals seem comparatively expensive but people still use them, so they must offer something else.

Are there some things that just can't be emulated with VSTs? Do you prefer VSTs or pedals, or does it just depend on the situation? If you do use them, what were the first couple of pedals that you invested in? Were they worth the investment? And how do they fit into a set-up?

Thanks for reading and any input you can provide.

ART / What do you like to see in terms of art on an album cover?

Most peoples opinions on this will be different and wide-ranging. Some covers look great, some look terrible. Is there anything in particular that catches your eye?

Even if they are both entirely different. It would still be good to know. Thanks.

Probably a stupid question. And most likely, almost entirely due to a lack of experience and knowledge. But when you move up to something that is supposedly more advanced, does it ever just make you feel more stupid?
