ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Re: Strymon Flint

Considering I bought my first pedal ever a month ago and it's still sitting in the box, I'll probably get that one whenever I retire.

you're showing disrespect to the hazarai! it'll spill tears when you open the box.   :o

OTHER MUSIC / Re: Live Acts seen in 2012

I saw a winged victory for the sullen in 2011 (at least i think its that long...), and yeah. awesome. the only negative point is that i met the cellist at the toilet, short before they started playing. how can you go pee and then touch a cello without washing your hands? i mean... urine? thats poison for wood and strings!  :'(
doesn't affect the music or performance though ;-)

haven't been to too many mindblowing shows this year. but i remember einar stray to be very good.

SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Re: Nord Modular/Modular G2
« on: April 08, 2012, 05:34:18 am »
the only "bad" thing with the nord modular keyboard is that it's lacking the wheel and pitch bend stick of the nord lead series. i _love_ the pitch bend stick. it's the most natural way of playing vibrato...
anyway, back on topic.

the nord modular it is!
i rediscovered an old patch of mine, simply sines tuned to third, quarter, quint, octave and sub-octave of the root, their volumes mapped to knobs. no envs. so much fun!
nothing fancy, nothing original, nothing new but still.
originally i used that patch to use with the an.schlag midi cube (see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOopxAyv9Mk ) a friend of mine built. unfortunately no video of that nord modular patch there. we let the x-y-z axes plus side boundary contacts control the loudness of the sines, set the speed to ultra slow and just watched and listened. constant joy!
inspired by a java app i saw in the web years ago...

SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Re: Nord Modular/Modular G2

Tanks for the picture! The smoothed triggers are a clever i never tried before. :)
I have a g1 key. Haven't used it for a while, but your sounds made me grab it and pay it again! Not only so they sound great, they're inspiring and motivate to try something new (at least for me)
As a result of a little injury i can't play the guitar for a while and will have to change plans for a gig in three weeks. I migt end up with the Nord on stage actually. :)

SELF PROMOTION / Florian von Ameln & Barn Owl, April 24., Nuremberg
« on: March 08, 2012, 11:26:01 am »
It's a pleasure for me to anounce my first live show in years, and my first ever solo show:
On April, 24. I'll warm up the stage for Barn Owl, at the lovely K4 in Nuremberg.
Additionally, it marks the official release date of my debut album.

If you like guitar drones / ambient and reside in Bavaria, Germany, Barn Owl alone would be a good reason to come along. But I hope to meet this high level.

It's 10€, doors open at 9pm.

See you there!

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / mastering studio recommendations
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:39:06 am »
any recommendations for a mastering studio i could contact?
i finished recording and mixing material for an album, and mastering would be the next logical step. it's rather droney guitar ambient stuff.
taylor mastered my first release to my absolute satisfaction, but i'm open for other names here too, as i'm always happy to establish new contacts.

i'll post photos at some time soon!
