The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love. Never really listened to this album before, for some reason. That 1st track is ace.

Piece of trivia: "The first use of the flanging effect in stereo is credited to producer Eddie Kramer, who used the effect in the coda of Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love" (1967). Kramer admitted in an 1990s interview that he read BBC Radiophonic Workshop technical journals for ideas and circuit diagrams."

Superb album. Have you ever heard a track called "Love You Bring" by P73? It really takes you back.

12K + LINE / Re: 12K PACKAGING CHANGE
« on: January 05, 2012, 04:23:49 pm »
Posted on twitter that it could be a deterrent, but turns out, a dollar difference probably won't be for the great majority of already convinced followers who purchase the CDs. If a buck makes you go download the torrent instead of buying the album, methinks you weren't that into it to begin with...

+ no plastic, who can argue with that?

You're already putting out some special packaging / format at times (the box set with Marcus, Twenty Ten, etc.) which is fairly daring in the current market. Obviously I have no clue how well you're doing on those margin wise / how fast they go, but assuming those reach your audience and reap in enough cash flow, I have a hard time imagining a dollar difference would suddenly make people flee.

I revise my earlier position and say go for it!

(and the poor shmucks like me can still wait until end of summer sales and the like)

I've read about it earlier on twitter, didn't know the man personally but I can tell his passing affects many that are close to me...

Sorry you lost a friend.

seeing The Sight Below's live set get shut down by the portland police.

now there's a story I'd like to hear!

recording a new collection of collaborative tracks with ted (oo-ray) laderas.

and those are sounds I'm eager to hear...

congrats on all those accomplishments & "oo-ray" for optimism.

ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Re: Travel guitars
« on: December 31, 2011, 07:17:22 pm »
If I'm not mistaken, I think Christopher Willits uses this one or a similar model, perhaps you can ask him impressions...

I play more acoustic guitar personally, a friend has a Taylor lighter bodied / smaller model made especially for travel, and meanwhile you can find a bunch of those by other makers, I was really taken aback by how little compromise there is in the sound with this one.

SELF PROMOTION / The holidays are a very ordinary time
« on: December 22, 2011, 06:31:18 pm »
Yet, for some reason, a chain reaction took place today. The following artists (& members of this forum) have their albums set up as "pay what you can't" for the holiday season:

http://sublamp.bandcamp.com/

http://pillowdiver.bandcamp.com/

http://leberger.bandcamp.com/

Enjoy all the ordinary you can get!

Does it sound like garbage because of the built-in mic? or is it other components?

Doing stuff in and around the house, with some stuff from not too long ago, but it still feels like reminiscing...
