Now it appears the tour is back on:

Following some personal events, The Legendary Pink Dots have confirmed that they will now go back out onto the road, and have two confirmed shows lined up: May 14th in Amsterdam and May 21st in Leipzig. They hope to reschedule much of the 30th Anniversary Tour they began earlier this year. Read on for more details.

confirmed dates:
14 May at the Wilhelmina Parkhuis in Amsterdam
21 May at Wave-Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany

It has been too long since I last played this album, which is really a shame. Pure beauty.

A classic - too bad their albums since then haven't come close to the quality of this one. The 'Danelectro' EP from the, 'And Then Nothing' session is a favorite of mine. The Nobukazu Takemura remix is outstanding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvyI6irkvYQ

The 'Nuclear War' EP is a great tribute to Sun Ra......makes me wish they would do a full on jazz album!

The reason for the cancelation is, "unforeseen circumstances." It didn't hlep things much that Martijn and Niel's left the band last month. Martijn had been considering leaving the group due to his need for a more stable lifestyle / income. Niel's, he had become less connected to the band / previous releases. You can read his goodbye letter: http://nielsvanhoorn.com/news/ I'm excited to see him devote more time to Strange Attractor. The Canada/USA portion of the tour wasn't due to kick off until October 15, so who knows?

Starting in the late 80's, I've seen the Dot's five times in concert. Attending one of their shows is an amazing thing. Like Niel's, I too had become less connected to the band with it's last release. Maybe now Edward Ka-Spel can turn all his attention to The Tear Garden and tour with them : )

Good question......not sure if this will be a good answer? With so many artist producing avant, soundscape, drone, noise, field recordings and such......many are left wanting better descriptive terms to help describe the music they are creating / looking for.
