Ambient Intermix (Instinct) - an oldie, but it still gives me shivers.

SELF PROMOTION / Re: The Green Kingdom - Prismatic

This arrived in the post last night and I listened right away.  I've gotta say it's fabulous, like a dream with just a little edginess to it.  It will likely take a few more listens to fully appreciate its intricacies and delicacies.  It's certainly related to The Green Kingdom's previous releases - definitely with Michael's signature to it - but also a development from those.

The remix CD is wonderful too - more a re-invention of the tracks than a straight remix.  They're definitely recognisable, but it seems each remixing artist has stamped their own flavour on to the tracks, often with more beats or more glitchiness.  I especially like the 13 minute version of 'Wetlands' - absolutely haunting.  As the release notes say "These artists take the original compositions into some unexpected and exciting new musical territories"

yeah. it's kinda pointless. but anyways. the music is great.
yeah, love the new music.. but that video leaves a bit to be desired...

Reminds me a little of videos I've been trying to make of late  :P ... panning through sunset trees, or filming the incoming tide.  My 3-year-old daughter, who's grasped the concept of narrative, asks me, "What's going to happen", and I've gotta say, "Well, nothing."

SELF PROMOTION / Re: Rural Colours Netlabel

Rural Colours is a just another netlabel focusing on experimental folk/post rock/ambient/drone genres, but we'll only release ep's up to 21 minutes as we make super limited 3" CDr's for each release.
...Beginnings is the alias and solo project of experimental musician Jon Frost, who creates drifting soundscapes with electric
...Listening Mirror is the collaborative ambient/drone project of Jeff Stonehouse and Kate Tustain. Their second release

Listening to these two now - wonderful stuff.  I'll have to work my way through this catalogue.

Billy - poor Tony - did he ever find somewhere to sleep, I wonder?

I kept Shoals in it's shrink wrap for a while, finally listened in the weekend.  Wonderful, thanks Taylor.  So distinct from Northern, and from January (which I got from Boomkat and have had on high rotation of late).  I have a feeling that Shoals will take quite a few spins to fully appreciate.

Love it.  I spend hours pouring over those fancy architecture books (the advantages of working in a library) with this kind of stuff, but I don't know if I've seen much that's quite as straightforward at this.

... along houston st) and saw imaginarium of dr parnassus instead.  really fun & beautiful - so much less depressing and mind-breaking than a haneke movie.  tom waits plays the devil.
Yep loved imaginarium - extraordinary how they worked around Ledger's death, though perhaps few movies lend themselves in this way to losing the star partway through.  Also really enjoying Tom Waits's film career - saw the middling Book of Eli a while ago and Tom is so very, well, Tom.
