SELF PROMOTION / Orphax - Live at MFR HQ EP up for order right now
« on: April 03, 2013, 08:51:06 am »
Orphax – Live at MFR HQ is the first edition in a new series we are presenting called “The portrait series” in which an artist presents a new work which will be released as 3″ EP coming with a card with a picture of the artist on it (the portrait) send in a small envelope (which is part of the whole set).

For this release Orphax presents us the work recorded live at his performance at the Moving Furniture Records HQ on 17-11-2012.
The recording we get to hear is made with a build system in the software audiomulch that does not use sound input and generators. Instead it works with a feedback loop that creates a self-synthesized sound which gets manipulated with several effects.
The work is for Orphax a new direction in music where he tries to explore the possibilities of several minimal settings. The result on this release, unlike what we know from him, isn’t based around drones and field-recordings but is rather a form of digital noise that as easily could be considered minimalist music.

Hear a short remix of the release at SoundCloud
https://soundcloud.com/movingfurniturerecords/orphax-live-at-mfr-hq

The 3″ CD-R is limited to 50.
This is MFR014
The Portrait Series 001

Listen to and buy the album on Bandcamp for 7 euro (excl. shipping)
http://movingfurniturerecords.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-mfr-hq

The CD-R will be shipped starting April 5th, which is the release date.

Upcoming releases in The Portrait Series are by TVO, Machinist and Matto Frank.
Soon more to be added.

OTHER MUSIC / Re: What are you listening to?

Hi has been a while.

Listening to Pelt - Effigy right now.
Really enjoy this one.

Since last time I was here got a lot new stuff. It has been crazy times with music buying, now slowing down.

Anyone checked the new Eliane Radigue 2xCD already? Psi 847 on Odal Records?
Must say it is really intense stuff. Will need much more time from my side.

Hope everyone is well.

it is tempting, but I already have the cd's and for the same money I can buy about 20 other LP's and CD's.

what I heard was that the ventilation shafts outside were also blowing of some steam this time :p

On October 23th, 2011 I performed live at the OCCII in Amsterdam, NL as opening act for Charalambides, Steve Gunn and others.

My intention was to do a set with throat singing, though due to a horrible pain in my throat for 2 weeks I couldn't practice. So instead I grabbed back to an older performance I did before.
What you hear here is 26 different frequency layers of my sounds which all get their moment throughout the piece.
In the source recording there are small variations, which change the sound continually, while the way the different layers are played bring a huge variation in the sound palette.
Because the way the sounds are reworked and played only in small fractions of the piece you can actually hear what the source is: my voice.

You can get the download at http://orphax.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-occii-october-23th-2011 for a donation of 1 euro

Ok, so that show I put on for Concern, Geoff Mullen and Matar Dolores was really great.
Had good fun and was lovely to meet this people.

I also went to see The Soft Moon, Lärm and Julia Holter, but that's about it for what I can remember :P
Must have been more, but guess I said before already that I attend just way too much shows to remember everything.

7 Seconds did some great stuff, though I do not have any of their records.

Some of my favorite tunes by them are "Young Untill I Die" and "I Hate Sports". Has some really positive about it :-)

When I was young I was pretty much into Hardcore Punk and such, just a few things did stick around...
So now I am playing about the whole early discography of Lärm. Almost one hour of old school pre-grindcore noise about politics and being straight edge.

 ;D

This week will be a special week with my hosting a show for Tiago Sousa and Ti Femme in my living room coming Sunday.
Looking forward to it a lot.

And in a few weeks there will also be a show for Geoff Mullen, Concern and Matar Dolores in a small vegetarian/vegan restaurant that I helped setting up.

SELF PROMOTION / Orphax - Confused
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:37:24 pm »
My new release Confused is out now

Confused is an improvisation done with guitar, voice and audiomulch that was lost in the archives that in a recent struggle through old recordings popped up (among others).

The CD-R comes in a hand scratched metal box which also contains two inserts, a picture and a handwritten personal note. The CD-R is limited to 50 pieces, but there is also a digital version (without the personal note though).

The price is 8 euro incl. shipping in the EU and 9 euro incl. shipping to the rest of the world.

You can listen to and buy the release here: http://orphax.bandcamp.com/album/confused

ambarchi's recent material with thomas brinkmann is also very good, "the mortimer trap".

soundsamples of this didn't convince me at all...
I can also recommend it, I quite enjoyed it. Though, not as much as Audience Of One
