OTHER MUSIC / Re: Live Acts seen in 2012
« on: April 15, 2013, 03:45:00 am »
I saw Mono couple weeks ago. Some very sensitive songs, some pretty dull ones, and overall a poor sound on the distorted part ruined the show. Disapointing.

same for me a few weeks back.
saw them a year ago for a first time, and that was so much better.

I listened to a couple of tracks from that album. It's pretty much the same as the early Plastikman was, isn't it?

By the way, totally acid unrelated:
I got the x0xb0x flashed with MarOS, an alternate operating system. It adds a few brilliant features for random pattern variations.
You can, for example, let random notes from a pattern pitched up and down, with adjustable probability, have pauses or slides added, also with adjustable probability. and then let these new variations occur every second, third, fourth, you name it repetition of the pattern.
the probabilities can be adjusted during playback.
spits out midi as well, so you can record these variations and use them for other machines too.
instant arpeggio madness :)

for me, as someone not using ableton live / max4live or reaktor it's so much fun to break up the linearity of cubase with this.

12K + LINE / Re: regarding the new shipping costs...
« on: March 30, 2013, 05:10:04 am »
in the end I bought the origin lp locally in a store, and the download additionally in the 12k store. not much more expensive and probably less hassle.

but good to know that shipping includes a tracking number now, I might consider buying directly again when the next shop exclusive limited edition appears.

with this pseudo polyphonic you can get quite far. but what kills it for me is the lack of an attack knob. i'm not pushing for full ADSR (or even more complex) envelopes on a 200€ synth, but attack is essential :-/

and it's never as good as air liquide was...

this is not a mindtrip, this is a body journey.

somewhat a shame, that they did not evolve any further the last 10-15 years or so.

12K + LINE / regarding the new shipping costs...
« on: February 26, 2013, 09:42:34 am »
... yeah i know. It's that topic again...
I see that LPs now cost 17$ shipping to germany... is it at least tracked for that price?
some orders from the US have been lost over the time, and I would be willing to pay that amount if I'd get tracking in return...
But I assume that's not the case so here comes question 2:
If I finally have to switch over to buying 12k releases at my local record store (or a-musik ;-) ) instead of ordering directly... do I get the download possibility this way too?

SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / confessions of an acid addict
« on: February 15, 2013, 04:24:32 am »
there's a dark shadow in anybody. mine is that i love 303 clones.
the funny thing is, that i don't produce acid music, or dance tracks at all. at least not very often, and if so then it's just for entertainment, without any further musical ambition.
i just love this sound.
while i'm not at all interested in the original 303 machine itself, because of it's clumsy programming, i'd love to get a pair of each clone. it's just too much money to justify this. i've 3 clones at the moment, an acidlab bassline v1, a v2, and a x0xb0x.
and i don't dare to sell even one of them because i fear i might miss it soon.
i feel very bad. :-[

if it goes for the same price, i might just switch to this since the foot controller has the newer smaller form factor that fits better on my pedal board.
plus i had issues with compact flash cards, and 32gb sdhc sounds not too bad at all!

on the other hand it does not offer seperat foot switches for reverse and octave (which i like a lot, but well..) instead it has 100 loop sets, accessible by foot switch. that's quite cool.
