COMPUTER MUSIC / performing via SKYPE
« on: July 12, 2012, 04:39:07 pm »
Has anyone performed using Skype, routing through a DAW? I had a failed attempt today and wonder what I was doing wrong. I had a session open in Ableton (tried Logic as well). I had a mic patched in to the Live session (via RME 400) and the audience could hear that but they couldn't hear my any of the files I was playing back or any of the sounds through the other inputs (guitar, processing...). I could hear everything in my session and I could hear the people on the other side who I was meant to be playing with. I had the RME set for input and output in all the usual control panels and preference settings. I ended up just playing guitar, straight into the computer but none of the other formats worked. It seems like it should have been simple but never was...

ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC / Travel guitars
« on: December 31, 2011, 06:45:20 pm »
Is anyone using any sort of travel guitar? I was looking at this thing:

It doesn't look as dorky as the Steinberg guitars of yesteryear. I just wonder what it sounds like.
Thanks. Happy new yEar all around. Stephen

SELF PROMOTION / Stephen Vitiello - solo exhibition, NYC opens January 12
« on: January 07, 2011, 10:24:30 pm »
I have a solo exhibition, "More Songs About Buildings and Bells" opening next week at
Museum 52, 4 E. 2nd Street, NY NY 10003 (museum52.com)
Opening: January 12th, 6 - 8pm

It's a small space. I'm dipping into two previous projects, showing a video I shot in the World Trade Center in 1999 that's never been shown before, and a reworking of my High Line installation with bell recordings from all over NYC. The show is up for a month. I think the closing date is Feb. 12 but I'm not 100% sure.

best, Stephen
